Members of the NGO "Solidarity of Right Forces" are going to learn carefully the work of our so-called "manual" trade unions actively simulating intense activity only on the internet sites and on paper.
Every day we see Ukrainian people sliding into poverty. We see that even in the capital – the city of Kiev, the number of beggars has been increased. Recently, walking on Khreschatyk from “Bessarabka” to the Maidan, I was stopped by six people asking for alms. I’m not talking about the numerous volunteers who seem to be raising money for everything that is possible. There is no any guarantee whether this help will reach the destination indicated on the box or subtle rogues will make money with our help.
But we are not talking about that … we all remember the American movies talking about the 1920 – 1930 years in the United States, quite well. Novels written by Theodore Dreiser, Jack London and other writers who perfectly describe the formation of capitalistic relations in America. Procurement of initial capital, exploitation of workers and most importantly, in this regard – the development and establishment of effective free trade-unions which made the USA a prosperous country for which it is known for in the entire world!
Some time ago, I always thought that our trade-unions perfectly perform their functions. For example people had the opportunity to go for vacation on discounted vouchers once a year. But time runs fast and cognition comes through comparison. Once again I stumbled on the statistics of wages in Europe. To our shame, we stubbornly take the last or second to last place, rotating with Moldova. Why?
Where are our trade-unions and why are they silent?
I visited a trade-unions web-site. This is what i read:
“The main tasks of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine is to protect human, social and economic rights and interests of union members; social protection of trade union members and their families; protection of moral, social and cultural rights and interests of union members; legal protection of trade-union members; reinforcement of influence in the political life and civil society; improvement of social partnership.”
Ok, no objections, I support these statements – but where are your actions!
And the actions rather look like a declaration of intentions than concrete steps necessary in order to respect the social security of Ukrainians. The same site informs us that
“January 23, 2015 during a meeting of the trade-unions members with the Head of the IMF in Ukraine Jerome Vasher in the IMF office, the trade-unions stressed the inadmissibility of the government shifting the burden of the so-called reforms to the average citizens, abandoned to their fate people are willing to take decisive actions, and it was showen by the trade-unions protest movement on December 23, 2014 “.
Maybe someone has heard about this sensational protest movement, where citizens all over Ukraine were defending their rights? In fact, it was not a protest but only a parody, an eyewash. Once again they caved in to the authorities and deceived gullible people!
And then I remembered scenes from movies about America, where trade-unions didn’t admit ostarbeiters to the enterprises occupied by their workers, went on strikes, and sooner or later reached their goal – usually, salary increase and other social benefits for its members.
As head of the NGO “Solidarity of Right Forces,” I am asking the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine – why are we not seeing your consolidated and mass protests against the robbery of our people? Why, while having a huge structure in the state you really do not affect the government and other private and public institutions where people work and therefore do not protect their rights!
I want to assure the readers that the members of the NGO “Solidarity of Right Forces” are going to carefully research the work of our so-called “manual” trade unions which actively simulate intense activity only on internet sites and on paper.
That’s why I guarantee that if our unions do not do everything possible (and we are ready to join the common struggle) in order for the Parliament of Ukraine to abolish numerous decisions that significantly restrict or eliminate labor rights and social security of workers, including: the frozen level of minimum wage, living minimum wage, deprivation of the right for health resort treatment for workers and their children, increased tax burden on the population with low and average returns, etc. – Me, as a MP of Ukraine, Andrey Artemenko jointly with my colleagues from the NGO “Solidarity of right Forces” will undertake responsibility for the social protection of the Ukrainian people and prosperous trade-unions will be thrown into the garbage of history as a relic of the Soviet past.
